Folding Tents
By John Atanasoff
Homeless people need cheap shelters that are easy to set up and portable for their everyday life.
Problem
Brainstorming
Brainstorming was not much drawing but more building and testing different tent designs.
Design Criteria
Light weight
portable
easy to construct
able to fit an average human

1st folding tent
My first prototype was very simple and easy to fold and has a nice Geometric shape.
Not very light weight if made in full size and wouldn't be comfortable for the average human.
Pros
Cons
2nd Folding tent
My second prototype was bigger if made in bigger scale and has more of a tent look.
The folding process of this tent was less intuitive and would be to big to transport around in human scale.
3rd folding tent
More of a tent like design, also easiest to fold and more compacted.
Too big folded for a full scale version.
Pros
Cons
Final prototype
folds up the just enough to cary around easily and can house a person comfortably to sleep and chill.
I would have liked to make it waterproof and easier to fold.
