The Ice Man: 

During the summers Cobbosseeconte lake is filled with the joy and laughter of many children as they swim in the waves, ski across the smooth surface, and enjoy the summer sun. But when the winter months come and the shore grows icy and cold there is one who remains. The Ice Man and his loon maidens have lived in the lake since long before houses and camps lined its shore and they have looked after it every year since. They promise to protect the lake while we are all gone to ensure that it can live on for generations of campers. Every June and August they return to Camp Kippewa to renew this promise and pass on their story. 

Josephine:

After a long day of activities the OCs settled into the Wolf Den and drifted off to sleep. However, in the middle of the night one girl was awakened by a strange sound coming from the living room. “Rachel did you hear that?” the girl asked, waking up the girl in the bed beside her. 

“It’s probably just the wind,” Rachel groaned and rolled over to go back to sleep. But suddenly, she heard the noise too.  “It sounds like someone’s in there.” Slowing the two girls slid out of bed and made their way to the living room. Standing in the doorway to the bathroom they saw a figure. Rachel reached over and flicked on the light. “Jojo what are doing up?” she asked, but Jojo remained frozen in the doorway. 

“What’s wrong?” Braegan said, pushing past Rachel to get a better view. 

“It’s Josephine,” Jojo said, fear penetrating her voice. 

“What’s going on,” Mira asked entering the room groggy eyed. 

Suddenly Jojo turned to face them. “I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and Josephine was in here.”

“It’s probably just Richard playing tricks on us again.” Rachel said dismissively. 

“No” Jojo said firmly. “She was floating in the air. Right next to the sinks there” she said signaling to the area where the old CPR doll now sat motionless on the floor. “I’m serious guys. You heard what those OC ‘08 girls said. What if the stories are true.” 

“Jojo you’re being crazy,” Rachel said, “She’s a doll.”

“Dolls are creepy,” Mira added, “Haven’t you seen Coraline. And don’t you remember back when we were in Fox Haven CC swore she heard Josephine laughing in the middle of the night.” 

“That was the OCs. They literally told me the next day. You know how prank wars are. I’m sure it’s nothing. I’m going back to bed.” Rachel said heading back through the living room. 

“There’s no way I’m sleeping after that.” Jojo said. 

“I’ll stay up too,” Mira said. “I’m wide awake now anyway.” 

As the girls sunk into their beanbags and talked the night away the fears of Josephine faded away, but she will always remain in the Wolf Den for each new group of girls to leave their mark on and wonder if perhaps the stories are true.  

The Lodge: 

All of the campers had gathered in the lodge for lunch when all of the sudden they heard a noise outside. They all ran out onto the grassy knoll to find a great big moose sitting out there. This wasn’t just any moose though. This moose was drinking juice, and singing “Way-oh-way-oh.” Ginger walked up and asked him what his name was and he said his name was Fred and that he liked to drink his juice in bed and sing “way-oh-way-oh.” Because Fred the Moose liked to drink his juice in bed he typically drank his juice with care. However due to all of the commotion of the campers he accidentally spilt some on his hair. So now he was a sticky moose because he was all covered in juice. But even as he walked away from camp and headed down Kippewa drive the campers said they still heard him singing “way-oh-way-oh.”
